Poetry

For anyone who has known me for very long, you know that poetry has always been a part of who I am. I haven't written much in the way of poems these last few years. I thought I would post my most recent poem here, and maybe after I have gone through some old papers I will post more of poems along the way. I hope you enjoy.

Flip My Halo

At times I flip my halo
And may sometimes park my wings
But even then I know
You're still watching over me
I've made some poor decisions
And done things I regret
But still I know You love me
No matter what my faults
So when I flip my halo
Or even park my wings
I'm glad that You remember
It's just the way
That You made me

The Two Way Street That Wasn't

I've been there for you
Whenever you needed me.
I've lent you my ear
And a shoulder to cry on.
Your celebrations have been mine
And I've been happy to share them.
I've comforted you
Supported you
I've calmed your fears
And encouraged your successes.
Yet, here I sit
Alone again
Wondering what friendship means to you
I give and give
Asking for nothing in return
But, sometimes, I wish
You gave me
Half of what I have given you.
